Dartmouth Japan Karate Association

The Dartmouth JKA is a non-profit family-oriented athletic club dedicated to Karate-do, the way of the Empty Hand. The Dartmouth JKA practices Shotokan Karate, the traditional form of the Japanese martial art. Class training allows adults and youth to train together; non-contact sparring means the risk of injury is minimal.

DOJO Training Schedule:
Wednesday 7:30 - 8:30 pm Regular Training
Friday 7:30 - 8:30 pm Regular Training
Sunday 9:30 - 10:30 am Self Training/Practice

Beginners Karate Course

In this course, students are introduced to the concepts of Shotokan Karate. Basic techniques and movements that include kicking, blocking, punching and striking are taught in addition to self-defence techniques and sparring. Students also study an initial beginner kata or form. After completion of this course students are able to join the Dartmouth JKA, which operates its dojo at the Sportsplex.
